Happy Friday! Hopefully you are already out of work and enjoying the long weekend. The random number generator told me that comments number 4, and 10 are the lucky winners of the Lock Laces Giveaway!
Yay Erin and Amy! You don't need to send me your addresses because I am pretty sure I will see both of you in person soon for a bike ride :)
My Friday afternoon started off with a little romance. We had an early dismissal from work and I decided to pop back into the local bike shop to have the fit on Pink Lady adjusted. You have heard me complain about my shoulders screaming in pain, and remember I told you that I rode all 56 miles of Eagleman not on the aero bars? Something had to be done- I have a lot more miles to put on that bike and I need to be comfy! Another issue I was having with the bike was the saddle. I'll save you the details but let's just say that certain parts below my waist were going numb during every ride. Not fun.
When I got home Phil said "I pumped up your tires and already put your bike and your bike shoes in the car. I also filled up a water bottle for you and put in the center console. I also called Adam and told him about all the issues you were having." (cue collective 'aaaaww').
At first I wondered why Phil felt he needed to call Adam and tell him about the issues I was having. I am perfectly capable of telling my bike fitter that my shoulders hurt and my lady parts aren't happy. I just figured Phil wanted to make sure I told Adam everything and clearly portrayed my frustrations with the bike.
When I got to the shop the first order of business was the saddle. Adam switched my current, no name, cheap saddle with the Adamo racing saddle. He then added spacers to my aero bar pads to raise my elbows a little. The shoulder pressure was instantly eased and it opens up my chest more so I can breathe better. I also loved the Adamo saddle- but I didn't want to cough up the cash for it.
Turns out Phil called Adam to buy the saddle for me :) Phil knew I was unhappy and uncomfortable on my bike and he didn't want me to get turned off to riding (which truth is- I totally was dreading getting on my bike). So hopefully now my shoulders won't hurt and my lady parts won't go numb!
Phil is a total winner. I think I'll keep him around for a while. A long long while. :)

I have the Adamo and I LOVE it! Makes the long rides much more comfortable. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI just switched to the Adamo saddle too approx 3 weeks ago and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I've always ridden a men's saddle and had to ride towards the back of it to get confortable, nut not now. It definitely takes a few ride to get used to it but I'm sure you'll love it. Comfort +
ReplyDeleteaww he is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteWOOHOO!! So excited to win!! Haha, I love Amy's embarrassing story, too. Totally hardcore, Ames!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, that is so adorable! He is definitely a keeper. And uhm, hello, please update me on how this seat is for you after a few weeks because my lady parts were NOT happy in the HIM, either. I was reading some really good reviews for a performance brand saddle that has the same design idea, and was contemplating checking it out.
I'm still not anywhere near in good as shape as you, but if you have any easy rides coming up and want company let me know!!:)
Two thumbs up for Phil! I hope that this fitting and the new seat fix all the issues you've been having.
ReplyDeleteaw, phil is the best!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeletePhil is awesome... and you'll love the adamo! :)
Awww, that is an awesome present! That saddle is the best! It will definitely make your IM training more enjoyable and less painful!
