About Me

Hi! I'm Lauren and I am new to the world of running and triathlon. I ran my first 10k in December of 2009, less than a year after knee surgery to replace my torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. Crossing that finish line sparked an interest to see what else I could do. Since then I have continued to push myself to longer distances in both triathlon and road races.

I should mention that I do not have a background in swimming, biking, or running. I did gymnastics when I was younger, played volleyball in high school, and was on the spring board diving team in college. I signed up for my first triathlon (October 2010) without knowing how to swim or use clipless pedals. I've come a long way but I still have a lot to learn. I crossed the finish line of my first Ironman in November of 2011.

I recently moved from Washington, DC to Denver, Colorado  to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. I live with my triathlete boyfriend, Phil (I call him my faster half), and my adorable pug, Brizzy (named after Brisbane, Australia- where I studied abroad in college).

This blog is mostly about my adventures of trying to become a better athlete, but don't be surprised if you see recipes, silly pictures of my dog, or posts about cupcakes and beer pop up from time to time.

Join me as I train for my next big goal while exploring a new city, meeting new people, and laughing along the way!
