A New Monday Morning Routine

When I saw the poster that advertised free yoga every Monday morning from May 2nd until the end of September at my favorite landmark close to my apartment, I was thrilled!

After biking 73 miles on Friday and then running my little heart out on Sunday, my legs and hips really needed some yoga poses to stretch them out so I decided to give the free yoga a shot.

The Crystal City Water park, where the yoga session is held, is a beautiful fountain steps outside of my apartment building. I love the fountain- it is very peaceful and relaxing- the perfect spot for an outdoor yoga class.

My alarm went off at 6:50 and I hopped out of bed, threw on yoga clothes and walked the 15 feet from my apartment building to the fountain for the 7 am yoga class.

The 45 minute session offered wonderful stretches that my hips and legs needed and it was really relaxing to be outside with the noise of the fountain in the background.

With the next few weekends being intense leading up to my first 70.3 in June, I think Monday morning yoga is a great way to recharge from the weekend and start the week. I am going to switch my Monday strength session to a yoga session!
